SWE - NESS
Society of Women Engineers
New England Shoreline Section
The New England Shoreline Section of the Society of Women Engineers is a not-for-profit educational and service organization. SWE-NESS members are pioneers, advocates and mentors who support the professional journey and are impacting the future of engineering and technology.
SWE-NESS members live or work in Rhode Island and southeastern Connecticut and we have four collegiate sections: Brown University, Roger Williams University, the Coast Guard Academy and University of Rhode Island.
We are an active group, with regular meetings and ongoing educational programs for youth of all ages. You don’t have to be an engineer or a woman to be active in SWE.

Virtual Holiday SWE Jamboree
We had a great time making our holiday crafts at this year's Holiday Jamboree. Our annual holiday tradition is to collect donations for Lucy's Hearth. Lucy’s Hearth is a 24-hour emergency and transitional shelter in Newport County serving children and their families who are homeless due to economic hardship, family crisis, divorce, eviction, and severe shortage of safe, affordable housing. The primary goal is to foster independence and help the residents gain the life skills necessary to prevent future homelessness. Learn more about them at lucyshearth.org.
Volunteer Opportunities
March 2021 - Raytheon Creating Your Future in Math and Science Workshop with 7th grade girls from Tiverton Middle School. Contact Sue at outreach@sweness.org if you are interested in helping.
SWE-NESS members and friends had a great time at our Paint Night Fundraiser on February 7th!
